What is the ECS?<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The endocannabinoid system or ECS for short resides within all animals except insects and is a 600-million-year-old messenger and receptor system integral to homeostasis. It is key to the management of balance within our body. From embryonic development to immunosurveillance, there is not a single function in our bodies that is not influenced or modulated by the ECS.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The ECS appears as a switchboard functioning in and across all physiologic processes and organs, acting and reacting to internal and external stimuli to direct, correct and overall manage our health. The ECS can be broken down into core components. Cannabinoid receptors like CB1 and CB2. Ligands called endocannabinoids that bind to those receptors and initiate an action, such as anandamide and 2-AG. Enzymes that synthesize these endocannabinoids on demand when they\u2019re needed and break them down after they\u2019re used.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
